I don’t review as many picture books as I once did because my reading has shifted toward middle grade and YA thrillers and fantasy. Still, every now and then, a group of picture books comes along that is simply too charming not to share.
In my latest video, I’m rounding up several picture books I received from Simon & Schuster this year. The collection includes the mischievous The Underwearwolf, the inspiring biography From the Fields to the Fight, the nature-focused Just One Oak and We Are the Keystones, Lynn Curlee’s visual history of Notre-Dame, the heartfelt Milton Makes a Move, and Our Favorite Day of the Week, a sweet story about friendship, traditions, and celebrating the things that make each person’s life special.
I’m also sharing the festive It’s Almost Time for…Thanksgiving! and the sweetly spooky Spooky Scouts.
There is a little bit of everything here: laugh-out-loud read-alouds, nonfiction for curious young readers, stories about courage and belonging, celebrations of different families and traditions, and books that highlight the natural world.
I’m especially excited that Milton Makes a Move and every book featured after it will be donated to Ronald McDonald House through an SCBWI.org charity event. I love knowing these sweet stories will eventually find their way into the hands of more young readers. ❤️
