This is also a charitable event, as stated on their website:
The Bookstock Fund was created from the revenue of each year’s Bookstock sale and donations. Focused on enhancing literacy in Detroit and throughout Michigan, each year the Fund looks for community partners doing inspiring and life changing work on the individual, family, and organizational level.
Recently the Bookstock Fund has supported programs such as poetry slams and classroom libraries, book clubs hosted in Brilliant Detroit homes and the Einstein Method teacher training, and Remain in Touch – a Northern Michigan program that records incarcerated parents and their children reading books together. Examples of new grants in 2025 include Chaldean Community Foundation, Making Spirits Bright and Birdies Bookmobile that offer diverse and culturally relevant books accessible to all children.
Besides the books Kim will be selling, Bookstock runs from April 26 - May 3, 2026, from 11 am to 7 pm M - Sat. and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday. It has a plethora of used books, which they’re selling for $1 to $6. They also sell vintage and collectable books, which are pricey, but if that’s your thing, you need to check them out!

Look forward to seeing you there! This is also an SCBWI.org event, so you’ll meet other local children’s authors and get information about SCBWI if you would like to join our group.
